Self Care Sunday- Spring Edition
Happy almost Earth Day. It’s finally starting to feel a little more like spring. It’s still been cool recently but the daffodils are starting to come up and I saw the first dandelion of the season recently. That was nice to see after the last few days of freeze warnings and having to wear a knit cap and scarf when going out.) I love seeing nature awaken from its winter sleep. I also love the fresh spring colors. Along with pinks and blues, I’ve also been enjoying wearing purples. Here are a few favorite purple outfits. This is the swing dress in sea serpent print with a powder puff top…

Self Care Sunday
It’s March now and starting to feel like spring. At least temperature wise it is. Today it was in the upper 60s. (It was also gray for part of the day and very windy. ) I went out for a short walk anyway. It was pleasant but there weren’t many interesting things to photograph since everything is still pretty brown and bare. March is always a transition month. It seems a little less so this year because of how warm and snow free the winter has been. That being said, I still like spring and look forward to the bright flowers, holidays, and new makeup and lighter clothes. I have…

My Pinup Style Journey
I have been interested in life in the 50s and 60s and vintage fashion for a long time. (I can’t remember when my interest first started but I remember reading vintage beauty books as a teen and young adult and having an interest in antiques and midcentury dishes and furnishings at that same time. I’ve also had a long time admiration for the style of Bettie Page and Dita Von Teese. I didn’t start dressing in the pinup style until 2019. (I did wear some vintage elements before that though. Things like high waisted trousers and pencil skirts and I’ve long loved red lipstick and nail polish.) Here are several pictures…

Wearing white after Labor Day
Since it’s Labor Day weekend I’ve been wondering if anyone still follows the rule of not wearing white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. I know I usually don’t. At least strictly. I don’t start using my white purses or wearing white sandals before then but I do wear white skirts and dresses. I also still wear dresses with white in them and white jewelry after Labor Day. I usually don’t wear all white outfits though, or carry a totally white purse. Do fashion rules like this matter anymore? Did they ever really matter? I’ve always liked making my own rules. Even back in the 90s I’d wear white…

Pretty in Pink
I’m going to try and post outfit of the day and makeup of the day posts regularly. I thought a good place to start would be with this Barbiecore inspired look. I love pink, and wearing it always makes me feel good. I am wearing the Maneater dress in hot pink from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Shoes are by Sofft. Headband, bracelets, and gloves are from amazon.com. Necklace is thrifted. Earrings are from Unique Vintage. Here is another view of the look, this time with a beret also from Vixen. Here is the dress worn in warmer weather. I am wearing a Powderpuff top from Vixen under the dress. Shoes…
