Self Care Sunday
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
We’re getting close to the first day of Spring, but it felt more like winter today. It was cold and windy and there were even a few snowflakes. I actually broke out the scarf and warm gloves again. (Along with my warm coat and knit cap.)
I felt a little out of place while out doing my shopping all bundled up like that while everyone else seemed to be wearing light jackets and hoodies. I even saw someone in shorts. (He may how come from working out at the gym that is in the same mall as the supermarket I was going to, but it still made me do a double take.)
I don’t really care if people think I look weird. I’d rather be warm. I’ve been that way my whole life. Even back in high school I was one of the few kids who wore boots in the winter.
That leads me to today’s self care lesson. Always be true to yourself and don’t let anyone tell you there is something wrong with how you are.
That can be easier said than done sometimes. When I start to doubt myself I think about the person who is making me feel bad or think I am wrong and consider if they and what they think are important to me. With the exception of immediate family and a few close friends it doesn’t really matter what other people think. They aren’t paying my bills or putting food on my table. They aren’t authority figures or in charge of me.
They have a right to their opinions, of course. I have the same right to disregard them.
Cool item of the week:
I heard about this mug a few days ago and have been looking for it ever since. I’m wondering if the website is to be believed about them being in stock because I’ve checked two Targets near me and haven’t seen any.
Finally, here are a couple of my St. Patrick’s weekend outfits.
As well as wearing green I’m also showing some Slytherin pride. The first outfit is a black powder puff top from Vixen by Micheline Pitt and a swing skirt in chevron pattern in Slyrherin house colors from Pinupgirl clothing. I am also wearing the vintage style Skytherin house sweater from Unique Vintage.
The second outfit is the Vixen swing dress in hunter green from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Jewelry for both outfits is green snake earrings from Pinupgirl clothing, a green bead bracelet given to me by a friend, and the Alicent Hightower necklace from the House of The Dragon collection from Hot Topic. Thick tights are A New Day from Target. Thinner ones are L’eggs season less tights.
Shoes on the first outfit are Nickels ankle strap pumps. The shoes on the second outfit are vintage style Strictly Comfort pumps I’ve had since 2010 or 2011.
