    Summer Purse Roundup

It’s Memorial Day weekend. Technically it’s still spring, but it’s the time of year I always start preparing for summer. I get out of storage and wash my summer dresses, and start wearing some of my summer accessories. This includes my white or light colored purses. This post will focus on a few of my favorites. First, is this cute, jeweled bag I got at Target this past week. I actually lucked out in getting this one because when I was originally looking for it last Sunday I didn’t see any in the store even though the website showed them in stock. I happened to look at the accessories section…

    Early May Geeky Post

Last Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. It was a pleasant day and the first FCBD that felt close to normal since the pandemic. I was also looking forward to it because there was a new 15th Doctor comic this year. I went to my usual comic shop, The Source Comics and Games. It was pretty crowded but there wasn’t a line out the door like there had been in previous years. They had bags of free comics to give out and tables in the back with a variety of comics artists selling artwork and merchandise. I got my free comics and looked around for a while. The line to…

    Self Care Sunday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. We’re getting close to the first day of Spring, but it felt more like winter today. It was cold and windy and there were even a few snowflakes. I actually broke out the scarf and warm gloves again. (Along with my warm coat and knit cap.) I felt a little out of place while out doing my shopping all bundled up like that while everyone else seemed to be wearing light jackets and hoodies. I even saw someone in shorts. (He may how come from working out at the gym that is in the same mall as the supermarket I was going to, but it still…

    Self Care Sunday

It’s that time of year I hate. The day after Daylight Savings time begins. (I still don’t understand why Daylight Savings time is still a thing. It made sense when we were an agrarian society and when lots of kids were walking to and from school. Neither are the case now. They should just abolish the whole thing and keep time the same all year.) I always dislike losing an hour, and it takes a while to get used to it being lighter later. The only positives are that I can take outfit pictures more easily in the evening if necessary and I can go for walks later. Thankfully, this…

    Self Care Sunday

It’s March now and starting to feel like spring. At least temperature wise it is. Today it was in the upper 60s. (It was also gray for part of the day and very windy. ) I went out for a short walk anyway. It was pleasant but there weren’t many interesting things to photograph since everything is still pretty brown and bare. March is always a transition month. It seems a little less so this year because of how warm and snow free the winter has been. That being said, I still like spring and look forward to the bright flowers, holidays, and new makeup and lighter clothes. I have…

    Self Care Sunday

Welcome to Self care Sunday, a new weekly lifestyle post that deals with various ways you can take care of and show love to yourself. Whatever you do, it’s important to remember to take time for yourself and to indulge in some things you love and that bring you joy. Self care can also include watching a favorite movie or listening to music that puts you in a good mood. (At the end of this post I’ll include a playlist of music I’ve been enjoying when…

    Wearing white after Labor Day

Since it’s Labor Day weekend I’ve been wondering if anyone still follows the rule of not wearing white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. I know I usually don’t. At least strictly. I don’t start using my white purses or wearing white sandals before then but I do wear white skirts and dresses. I also still wear dresses with white in them and white jewelry after Labor Day. I usually don’t wear all white outfits though, or carry a totally white purse. Do fashion rules like this matter anymore? Did they ever really matter? I’ve always liked making my own rules. Even back in the 90s I’d wear white…

    Pretty in Pink

I’m going to try and post outfit of the day and makeup of the day posts regularly. I thought a good place to start would be with this Barbiecore inspired look. I love pink, and wearing it always makes me feel good. I am wearing the Maneater dress in hot pink from Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Shoes are by Sofft. Headband, bracelets, and gloves are from amazon.com. Necklace is thrifted. Earrings are from Unique Vintage. Here is another view of the look, this time with a beret also from Vixen. Here is the dress worn in warmer weather. I am wearing a Powderpuff top from Vixen under the dress. Shoes…
